Ryanair passenger dies on flight as ‘chaos’ erupts on plane
A MAN suffered a “medical emergency” mid-air on a Ryanair flight and later died onboard.
The aircraft, which was flying from Tirana, Albania to Manchester Airport, had to suddenly divert to London Stansted during the incident on November 10.
Emergency service crews including medics, airport fire squads and an air ambulance surrounded the plane after it landed, Manchester Evening News reports.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
One passenger said that people with first aid training jumped in to help amid “chaotic” scenes aboard the plane.
The witness said that three passengers and two air crew members were helping the man until they landed in London.
From there, paramedics took over and the holidaymakers were told to leave the plane, they said.
About 90 minutes later, passengers boarded again with a fresh crew to complete the trip to Manchester, the witness added.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: “One ambulance, one Hazardous Area Response Team vehicle, one paramedic car and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were called to Stansted Airport on Sunday evening following reports of man with a medical emergency on an aircraft.
“Sadly, despite the best efforts of all involved, the man had died at the scene.”
